Franklin County Agricultural Advisory Board


Purpose

The Agricultural Advisory Board was created by the Voluntary Agricultural District (VAD) Statute enacted by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners in 2003 with the stated purpose of :

  • promote agricultural values and the general welfare of Franklin county
  • increase the identity and pride in the agricultural community and its way of life
  • encourage the economic and financial health of agriculture
  • increase protection from non-farm development and other negative impacts on properly managed farms

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE AG BOARD TO ADVISE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ON ALL AGRICULTURAL POLICY MATTERS IN THE COUNTY.

Livestock Extension Agent, Martha Mobley, is the advisor to the Agricultural Board. Each representative of the ten townships in Franklin County is appointed and approved by the Board of Commissioners for a 3-year term.

Know your representatives and communicate your concerns. The Ag Board meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month and all meetings are open to the public - you are welcome to attend and may participate in the meeting discussions.
